Why Saga's Latest Results Matter (Even If You're Not a Geologist) Published by Saga Metals Corp. | TSXV: SAGA · OTCQB: SAGMF · FSE: 20H
You don't need to understand metallurgy to understand this.
Think of vanadium like oil. It comes out of the ground mixed with other stuff. The question is always: how much pure vanadium can you actually pull out of that rock, and how cleanly can you do it?
The world's measuring stick for that question is a place called Panzhihua, China. Panzhihua is the largest vanadium-titanium-iron mining district on earth. It produces approximately 40% of the world's vanadium supply. Its magnetic concentrate — the enriched product you get after processing the ore — grades 0.3% V₂O₅.
That 0.3% is the global benchmark. That's what "good" looks like at industrial scale.
Saga's Radar Project in Labrador just returned preliminary lab results averaging approximately 0.80% V₂O₅ in the magnetic concentrate — with a high-grade subset hitting 0.81–0.90% V₂O₅.
That is nearly three times the Panzhihua benchmark. In a preliminary lab test.
There's a second piece that matters just as much.
At Radar, the preliminary results show over 86% of the titanium reporting to a separate non-magnetic fraction — meaning it largely stays out of the VTM concentrate. That potentially means a cleaner, simpler processing route for the iron and vanadium, plus a separate titanium-rich stream that could carry its own value.
Two products. One deposit. Cleaner chemistry than the world benchmark.
What this is — and what it isn't.
These are preliminary lab results from the Hawkeye zone. They need to be confirmed across representative samples from both the Hawkeye and Trapper zones before any conclusions about the deposit can be drawn. This is early-stage test work, not a resource estimate or a production plan.
But here's why investors pay attention to early metallurgical signals: they tell you whether a deposit's chemistry is working with you or against you. These results suggest Radar's chemistry is working with the team.
The Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate is in progress. Drill results continue to come in. And the metallurgical picture — while still preliminary is pointing in the right direction.
